Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Connect Education Inc. ("Connect Education," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information through connecteducation.net and the Connect Education resource library (together, the "Service").

 

Connect Education is a business-to-business service. We sell subscriptions to K-12 schools and school districts ("Subscribers") so that their authorized teachers and staff ("Users") can access and download curriculum resources. The Service is designed for educators and is offered only in the United States.

1. Information We Collect

 

Account information. When a User account is created, we collect the teacher's name, school email address, password (stored in hashed form by our hosting provider), and account preferences.

 

School and district information. We collect the name of the school or district, the courses and number of seats licensed, and contact details for the administrators who manage the subscription.

 

Demo, quote, and contact requests. When you request a demo or quote, use our chat, or email us, we collect what you provide, such as your name, job title, school or district, email address, phone number, and message.

 

Billing information. Subscriptions are paid by invoice, by bank transfer/ACH or check, and we accept district purchase orders. We collect billing contact details, purchase order and invoice information, and payment status. We do not accept or store credit card numbers.

 

Usage and analytics information. When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, resources viewed or downloaded, referring pages, and the date and time of visits.

 

Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Service, and understand how it is used. Most cookies are set by our website platform, Wix. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features (such as signing in) may not work without them.

 

2. How We Use Information

 

We use information to:

 

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including User accounts and resource access;

  • Confirm that Users are authorized under an active subscription;

  • Respond to demo, quote, and support requests;

  • Process subscriptions, invoices, and renewals;

  • Send service messages, such as account notices, renewal reminders, and updates to resources or policies;

  • Understand how the Service is used so we can improve our resources and website;

  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service and prevent misuse, such as unauthorized sharing of accounts or materials; and

  • Comply with legal obligations.

 

We may send occasional product updates to educators and administrators. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We do not use information to serve targeted advertising.

 

3. How We Share Information

 

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

 

We share information only as follows:

 

  • Service providers that help us run the Service, under obligations to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us. These include our website hosting provider, Wix.com, which also provides our membership, forms, chat, and analytics features, and our bank, which processes the payments we receive.

  • Your school or district. If your account is provided through a Subscriber, we may share account and usage information (for example, which Users are active) with that Subscriber's authorized administrators.

  • Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Connect Education, our Users, or others.

  • Business transfers, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case the information would remain subject to the commitments in this policy or equivalent protections.

  • With your consent or at your direction.

 

4. Student Data

 

The Service is teacher-facing. Students are not intended to have accounts, and the Service is not designed to collect personal information from or about students. We ask Users not to upload or submit student personal information to us.

 

FERPA. If a school or district provides us with any information from student education records, we handle it as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). That means we use it only to provide the Service under the school's direction and control, do not re-disclose it except as the school authorizes or the law permits, and return or delete it at the school's request.

 

COPPA. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

 

State student privacy laws. We are willing to review and sign reasonable district data privacy agreements, including state or consortium agreements, where appropriate. Contact us at support@connecteducation.net.

 

5. Data Security

 

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), password-protected accounts, access limited to personnel who need it, and reliance on service providers that maintain their own security programs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify affected Subscribers and Users as required by applicable law and any agreement with the Subscriber.

 

6. Data Retention and Deletion

 

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including while a subscription is active, and as needed to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations or resolve disputes. In general:

 

  • User account information is kept while the subscription is active and deleted within 90 days after the Subscriber's subscription ends, unless the Subscriber renews, or sooner if the school or district asks us in writing.

  • Demo and quote request information is kept for up to 24 months if no subscription follows.

  • Billing records are kept as long as required by law.

 

Subscribers may ask us to delete their Users' accounts and data at any time, and individual Users may ask us to delete their own account, by emailing support@connecteducation.net. We may keep limited information where the law requires or permits, and copies in backups may remain for a limited period until overwritten.

 

7. Your Privacy Rights

 

All users. You may ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may opt out of marketing emails. If your account is provided by a school or district, we may refer your request to that Subscriber or ask it to confirm the request.

 

California residents. If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), applies to us, California residents have the right to:

 

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and the sources and purposes;

  • Delete personal information we collected from them, subject to legal exceptions;

  • Correct inaccurate personal information;

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined);

  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right); and

  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

 

The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 1: identifiers (such as name and email), professional information (such as school, district, and role), commercial information (such as subscription records), and internet or network activity (such as usage data). We disclose these categories to service providers for the business purposes described in Sections 2 and 3.

 

Other states. Residents of other states with consumer privacy laws (for example, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and others) may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. Where those laws apply, we will honor these rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line.

 

How to make a request. Email support@connecteducation.net. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming control of the email address on your account, and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent, but we may ask for proof of authorization.

 

8. Children's Privacy

 

The Service is intended for educators and school staff, not for children. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us at support@connecteducation.net and we will delete it.

 

9. Third-Party Links and Tools

 

Our resources may link to third-party websites and tools, such as Quizlet, Blooket, or video platforms. We do not control those services, and this policy does not cover them. Please review their privacy policies before using them, especially before using them with students.

 

10. Changes to This Policy

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will notify Subscribers by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. We will not make material changes to how we handle student data without notice to affected Subscribers.
